ESTIMATED TAX SAVED
How this is estimated

What the calculator assumes.

Deduction limit. 18% of last year’s earned income up to $33,810 for 2026, minus your pension adjustment, plus unused room from earlier years. Source: Canada Revenue Agency. Your notice of assessment has the exact figure.

Tax saved. The difference in 2026 federal and provincial income tax on your salary with and without the deduction, using the same rules as the take-home pay calculator. Withdrawals are taxed later, usually at retirement.

Over-contributions. You can go over your limit by $2,000 without penalty; beyond that, the excess is taxed 1% a month. Read the RRSP basics guide.
