What the calculator assumes.
CPP. Starting before 65 lowers the pension by 0.6% a month (36% at 60); waiting raises it by 0.7% a month (42% at 70). The maximum at 65 is $1,507.65 a month in 2026. Sources: when to start CPP and CPP amounts.
OAS. Up to $762.50 a month at 65 to 74 and $838.75 at 75 and over (October to December 2026), raised 0.6% for each month you defer, up to 36% at 70. A full pension needs 40 years in Canada after 18; at least 10 years gives a partial one. Amounts are indexed each quarter. Source: OAS payment amounts.
Recovery tax. 15% of net income above $95,323 (2026 income), up to the OAS you received. Source: OAS recovery tax. Quebec residents receive the QPP instead of the CPP, with similar rules. Income tax on the pensions is not included; see the RRSP vs TFSA calculator for savings.
