Manitoba charges land transfer tax when a transfer is registered at a Manitoba land titles office. The rates rise in brackets, and each rate applies only to the part of the market value inside its bracket.
The brackets
| Part of the fair market value | Rate |
|---|---|
| Up to $30,000 | 0% |
| $30,000 to $90,000 | 0.5% |
| $90,000 to $150,000 | 1.0% |
| $150,000 to $200,000 | 1.5% |
| Above $200,000 | 2.0% |
A worked example: $250,000
The tax on a $250,000 home is 0 on the first $30,000, $300 on the next $60,000, $600 on the next $60,000, $750 on the next $50,000, and $1,000 on the last $50,000. That totals $2,650.
Changes announced for 2027
